Well, to be honest, I am flat embarrassed to be issuing this race report to everyone. I will explain the unfortunate circumstances of qualifying, but please know that there are no excuses for the performance of Vernon McKiddie and Michael Blose. The team has been based in California readying themselves for the past 4 weeks. Our test track is on the same property as Villopoto’s and Lawrences and there are some pretty heavy hitters that McKiddie and Blose are fortunate to ride with. If the past 4 weeks are any indication of how well the Hooters - Cumberland - 2 Wheel Outlet team will perform, the entire staff was really excited as both riders have been testing very, very well.

Timed practice is the method used to pair down the field to the fastest 40 riders. The fastest 40 go on to the night program, all others go home.
McKiddie’s first practice had him riding tight. As the rain began to fall, the track became slick and made it real tough for any rider to lay down a good lap time. In Blose’s first practice, he was also timid and spent the better part of the practice adjusting to his bike. In practice 2, the rain had stopped and the track dried out making it almost 2.2 seconds on average faster than the first set of practices across the board.
McKiddie fell victim to an injured Nate Adams in his 2nd practice. Nate was on the track the entire practice never allowing any riders a chance to do the quad - triple section. When the checkered flag fell on McKiddie’s 2nd practice, he was in trouble. Vernon was 36th in time and there were still 2 more session to time in. It was a wasted practice due to Adams’ injury.
Blose headed out for his 2nd practice and was the victim of Daniel Reardon’s goon crash over the double section of the big triple. With no flagger present, Blose popped over the double only to find Reardon’s bike laying on the track. The impact ripped the brake caliper off the fork leg and mangled the Braking front roto. By the time the team changed parts, the practice was over. Neither McKiddie or Blose would make the top 40 in time ending the teams night early. McKiddie finished 41st and Blose finished 42nd. Both riders have the speed to be top 10 riders in the main event, they now need to put it together.
